How Fare Anchor works

A short walk-through of the four steps between landing on this site and locking in a discounted hotel rate.

Hotel reception desk where a guest checks in

Step 1: Find the right deal

You can browse Fare Anchor three ways. Start at the brands index if you already know which hotel chain you want to book — Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Hyatt, and so on. Start at the categories index if you know what kind of stay you need (luxury resort, budget motel, extended-stay suite, family-friendly package). Or browse the full all-deals index if you want to scan the catalog top-to-bottom. Every deal card shows the brand, headline, masked code, and last-checked date so you can compare offers at a glance.

Step 2: Reveal the code

Click the headline or the "Reveal code" button on any deal card to open the full coupon page. There you'll see the unmasked promo code, an explanation of how the discount works, terms and fine print, and step-by-step redemption instructions. We deliberately put the full editorial context on the same page as the code so you understand what you're applying before you switch tabs to book.

Step 3: Apply the code at checkout

Each coupon page has a "Use code at [brand].com" button that opens the brand's official booking site in a new tab. Search your destination and dates as normal, then expand the "Special Rates" or "Promo Code" panel — usually a small dropdown beneath the main search form. Paste the code, re-run the search, and the discounted rate should appear in the room results. If it doesn't, try shifting your dates by one or two nights; many promotional rates exclude peak weekends or major convention windows.

Step 4: Book and track

Confirm that the discounted rate is genuinely lower than the brand's published Best Available Rate before you complete the booking. Once you've booked, save the confirmation email — it's your proof that the promo code was honored. If you signed in to your loyalty account before booking, the points and night credits will post to your account within five business days. If you've subscribed to our weekly email, we'll send you a checklist of what to do at check-in to maximize your stay (free upgrades, late checkout, lounge access where applicable).

What happens behind the scenes

Every code you see on Fare Anchor is compiled from a documented source, not scraped blind. We monitor brand press releases, partner emails, loyalty-program announcements, and reader submissions to find new promotions. Each candidate code is then cross-checked against the brand's published terms before publication — see our verification page for the full breakdown. The catalog listing is refreshed on an ongoing basis.

If a code doesn't work

Hotel promotional codes can fail for legitimate reasons — the most common is that the brand has restricted inventory for your specific travel dates. Before you give up, try the four troubleshooting steps on the coupon page. If the code still doesn't apply, send us a quick note via the contact page with your destination and dates. We'll look into it within one business day, and if the code is genuinely broken we'll either fix it or remove it from the site.
